Super Stoked to be Back!

Long-time no see!

I’ve missed you bud… And I’ve REALLY missed drawing. Do you know it’s been well over a month? My tablet has literally been gathering dust while I hammer through assignment after assignment.

I’m pleased to tell you that I’ve brushed off the dust and am well and truly back in action (and fully qualified to teach!)… So you’ll be hearing from me much more often from here on out.

This week I had a craving to draw Superman. Hadn’t drawn in a long time, so I warmed up with some studies to slip back into the groove. After experimenting with a few poses for Superman, I settled on the roughly drawn draft that would later become the pic above. For this illustration however, I wanted to do some experimenting.

Remember Mecharna from a few posts ago? I’d been playing around with a new coloring technique that gave the art work a more painterly finish. Well, I figured why not try it out this time round too?!

Needless to say, I was pleased with the results.

Turns out this coloring technique not only winds out looking phenomenal, it’s also ten times faster than the old method. Talk about maximum value for time… The inking was also done right over the top of the rough sketch. Meaning that the pencilling stage was skipped entirely.

As you can imagine, this has made the whole process a lot speedier.

I’ll be in touch with you again throughout the week to let you in on new updates and previews of what’s to come (just to build the suspense some more).

So stay tuned, and I’ll talk to you soon.
