I’ve released a brand new video for you. Check it out.
Listen, as important as your drawing abilities are, it’s the inks and colors that are ultimately brought together to create the final comic book illustration. Your pencils will never be seen in the end product...
And that’s where the fear begins to sink in…
What if the designated inker doesn’t quite measure up when it comes to giving your drawing justice? The inks can completely transform the aesthetic of your art work, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse.
Look, it sounds selfish; maybe even a little paranoid… But when it comes to the art you’re producing with your own hands, it truly is a personal experience.
So you’ve got two options…
Find an inker who compliments your pencils
Brush up on your own inking skills
I’ve always been one to depend on my own artistic prowess so I of course went with the latter. Though it did take some time to get the hang of inking, it was totally worth it.
In this video I hope to pass on the insights I discovered along the way, using Mikey as example to show you how they’re applied so that you too can give your pencils some slick, streamlined, color ready inks.
Watching is one thing, explanation of the process and the thinking that goes into it is another. So I’ve also taken the time to replace the tunes with some good ol’ fashioned informative narration to make sure you don’t miss a beat.
