The tormented warrior Chief Baron, anti-hero of KOZOR: Descent Into Madness: https://igg.me/at/kozor/x/20658139#/
It's hard to believe this piece took just a couple days to knock out. To put it in perspective, up until very recently, an illustration this detailed would have easily taken a month for me to complete, maybe more.
I'm at a stage of development now where adhering strictly to the rules I spent so long learning no longer serves me. Overthinking, taking my time to perfect every line only leads to a gentle hum of anxiety that tarnishes the joy I get from being a comic book artist.
It's time to stop analyzing, and just do. It's time to learn how to let go, and just be creative. Every artist reaches this point, and the challenge is knowing when you've arrived there.
Getting my work done at a reasonable speed while preserving it's quality has always been an obstacle I've struggled to overcome - but I think I might finely be getting close.
We overthink and care too much about our work from a lack of confidence within our abilities. We don't trust ourselves to intuitively take all we've learned and apply it during the performance - and so every performance becomes another rehearsal instead.
Now I have to practice letting go. Because second guessing myself, is only stifling my progress, and there's still so much further to go.
I hope you enjoy this piece. It signifies an important milestone in my growth as an artist, and between us, I think this is one of the best illustrations I've managed to pull off yet. Ironically, it was also quicker to do, and a lot of fun.
The future is looking bright!
